The Penguin Lessons (12A)

Screen 2, Thursday 24 Apr 2025, 17:30  - ends at 19:42

Starring Steve Coogan, this poignant dramedy from director Peter Cattaneo follows an Englishman’s personal and political awakening after he adopts a penguin during a cataclysmic period in Argentine history.

In 1976, disillusioned teacher Tom arrives at an exclusive boys school in Argentina, to teach English and coach Rugby.  When a bombing in the city calls for students to be sent home for a week, Michell and his friend the science teacher, Tapio take a trip to Uruguay where an oil slick has devastated the population of penguins. One penguin survives and Tom and the penguin set off on a remarkable journey together.
