An Evening with Ashley Cooper (PG)

Screen 1, Thursday 15 Feb 2024, 19:30  - ends at 21:30
Join us for an evening with Ashley Cooper - award-winning climate change photographer and adventurer.

This 1.5-hour slideshow and talk with Q&A is a fundraising event hosted by local climate action charity Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS): tickets are priced at £9 (to allow CAFS to 'survive'), or (if you want to help CAFS 'thrive') you can choose to pay £15, and if you want to be really generous, and to receive a free copy of Ashley's book Images from a Warming Planet at the event, select the £25 ticket donation price (show your ticket to CAFS staff at the event to claim your copy).

For the last nineteen years, Ashley has been travelling the world, documenting the impacts of climate change. His travels have taken him to over thirty countries and every continent on the planet. His passion for the subject is fuelled by the knowledge that climate change poses the greatest threat that humanity has ever faced.

Ashley’s work is published widely in newspapers, books, magazines and on TV around the world. In 2013, Ashley documented what was probably the first known incident of a polar bear starving to death directly as a result of climate change. The photograph was run as the lead, front page story in the Guardian newspaper.

In 2010, Ashley won the climate change category of the Worldwide Environmental Photographer of the Year Competition.

Settle in for an evening of stunning photographs and fascinating discussion as Ashley talks us through some of his most memorable experiences documenting the climate crisis. We will take a closer look at the impacts of the climate crisis to date and consider the future of our fragile planet.

Ashley’s book ‘Images from a Warming Planet’ will be available on the night and all money raised from the event will be donated to Cumbria Action for Sustainability.

Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS) is a leading climate charity based in Cumbria. CAfS’ vision is a zero carbon Cumbria which is socially, environmentally, and economically beneficial for all. We aim to achieve this by promoting and facilitating low carbon living and its benefits - inspiring and supporting individuals, communities, and organisations across Cumbria and beyond to decarbonise their lives and businesses by 2037 or sooner.
