— ranging from colossal statues to the rich burial objects of Kha and Merit and welcomes
over 900,000 visitors a year.
Key exhibits include Sphinxes, the Turin King List, the Goldmine
Papyrus, and sculptures of Ramesses II and Isis of Coptos. Founded in 1824, the museum’s
origins are linked to Piedmontese diplomat Bernardino Drovetti and excavation campaigns
by Ernesto Schiaparelli and Giulio Farina.
