Saving Our Rainforests (U)

Screen 2, Friday 20 Mar 2026, 21:00  - ends at 21:26
This visually stunning documentary sheds new light on Britain's best kept secret: the UK’s rare temperate rainforests, with a focus on Borrowdale in Cumbria.

Covering less than 1% of the planet, these habitats are rarer than tropical rainforests and are in urgent need of recognition and protection. Borrowdale contains one of the largest remaining portions in the UK, making it a vital site for conservation.

The film highlights the unique species that depend on this ecosystem, including the Northern Hairy Wood Ant, and features insights from experts such as National Nature Reserve officer Jade Allen and ecologist Ian Rotherham.

There is no admission charge for the Festival Fringe films and events, but seats are bookable and you will need to have booked a seat to guarantee entry. Donations towards the Festival runnigh costs will be requested at the screenings with any surplus going to the Keswick Area Food Share scheme.
